African Vaccination Week 2026 at St. Edward Catholic Hospital, Dwinyama.

The week featured health talks, vaccination catch-up drives, counseling sessions for parents and caregivers, and community sensitization activities, led by the hospital’s medical professionals and public health nurses. Participants were educated on routine immunization schedules, the benefits of timely vaccination, the dangers of vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, polio, and diphtheria, and the need to complete all recommended doses for every child.

Speaking during the activities, hospital management emphasized that “For every generation, vaccines work” and encouraged parents and community members to bring their children for regular vaccinations and child welfare clinic visits. They highlighted the hospital’s role in bridging immunization gaps and preventing outbreaks through sustained community engagement. The week was well-attended by staff, clients, parents, and residents from surrounding communities, reflecting strong local support and commitment to child health.

The annual observance remains one of the hospital’s major community health initiatives, reaffirming St. Edward Catholic Hospital’s dedication to preventive healthcare and public education.
