St. Edward Hospital is a leading non-profit healthcare facility located in the Ahafo Ano Southeast District of Ghana. With a bed capacity of sixty one (61), we are committed to providing affordable, high-quality, and comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and families across the region. Rooted in Christian values and guided by compassion, our hospital has become a pillar of health and hope for the communities we serve.

Founded in 1995 as a maternity clinic to support expectant mothers, St. Edward Hospital began with just five staff members. These included two ward assistants, a community health nurse seconded from Mankranso Hospital, a labourer, and a night security guard. Over the years, we have grown into a full-service hospital with 156 resolute healthcare professionals who deliver holistic care across multiple specialties.

Our Medical Team

Our team at is composed of highly trained and compassionate healthcare professionals who work collaboratively to ensure every patient receives exceptional care. We currently employ three medical doctors, one doctor of optometry, twenty-six midwives, three mental health nurses, two nutrition officers, ninety-two nurses across various cadres, two anaesthetists, and a visiting obstetrician/gynaecologist. This diverse and skilled workforce enables us to deliver a broad range of medical services tailored to meet the unique health needs of our community with professionalism and empathy.

Our Services

Comprehensive Healthcare Services in Ahafo Ano Southeast

St. Edward Hospital provides a broad spectrum of healthcare services designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients. Our services include outpatient and emergency care, child health and immunization services, basic eye care, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, and nutrition counselling.

We also offer advanced diagnostic services such as ultrasound scans, ECG, and laboratory testing. Our mental health unit provides support for psychological and psychiatric conditions. In addition, we run specialized clinics for chronic and infectious diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, sickle cell disease, asthma, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis.

Leadership and Governance

St. Edward Hospital operates under the Diocesan Health Service of Goaso and is governed by the  Catholic Health Service Trust (CHST) and the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG). Our administrative team includes an Administrator, Medical Director, Nurse Manager, Chaplain, and Accountant.

Our leadership journey began with Rev. Sr. Mary Leticia Ifeoma, who served as the first Administrator until her retirement in 2019. From October 2019 to January 2021, Dr. Gifty Amugi served as both Medical Director and Acting Administrator. Since September 2021, Mr. Obed Anarfi Addo has been the hospital’s substantive Administrator, continuing our legacy of ethical and visionary leadership.
